I recently completed the Divorce Mediation Training as approved by Michigan’s State Court Administrator’s Office. After six weeks and 48 hours of class room and practical training I am happy to announce that the ages-old adage that “you cannot teach an old dog new tricks” is not true.

I was pleased to learn a new perspective to the keys and fundamentals of why litigants do not and cannot reach a resolution and what steps a trained mediator can take to empower both parties to reach a compromise and control their destiny.   Why leave such decisions up to a judge or a jury who do not know you, who may not appreciate the value of things the way you see them or understand them?

When compromise without yielding on your core values is possible, why not seek it?
